COMMUNICATION JOURNAL OF NEW ZEALAND

The Communication Journal of New Zealand aims:

• to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, research and experience in communication in Aotearoa New Zealand and Pasifika.
• to encourage and enhance research and its professional application.
• to explore and discuss communication issues in a bicultural and multicultural society.
• to promote the effectiveness of business practice through research and add value to the knowledge economy.
• to explore and exploit opportunities presented by technology.

Content

Papers should relate to an aspect of communication which may include, but is not limited to, interpersonal communication, writing, organisational communication, information technology, mass media, bicultural issues, reading, intercultural, training or education.

Papers should present material which contributes to new knowledge, or promotes discussion on a significant issue. Papers must be original and not subject to copyright elsewhere.

Contributors

Must be a New Zealand resident, or working in New Zealand, or the content must be related to communication in New Zealand.

Submission of manuscript

• Include an abstract (200 words of fewer) with your paper which summarises your hypothesis and conclusions.
• Provide a cover page with title of paper, author's name, contact address and phone/fax/email.
• Pages may be numbered on bottom right corner.
• Provide a Microsoft Word version 6 or above.
• Use 12 point type for everything
• Font: Times Roman or Courier.

Tables and diagrams must be camera ready and presented separately at end of paper. Indicate where they should be inserted in the document.

Include the name, postal address, and e-mail address of the author to whom correspondence about the article should be sent.

Editing

When editing the manuscript for submission, please consider the following requirements on punctuation and layout:

• while the APA referencing style is generally used it is not rigidly followed
• capitalise the first letter of each item in lists present vertically
• use hyphens to ease reading: "co-worker," "sub-area."
• use only an apostrophe for possessives that already end in "s" or "z"
• British spelling and punctuation is preferred
• use accents on "résumé" and other French words
• do include the issue number for periodicals
• indicate where tables of figures should be inserted but provide them at the end of the paper
• do not use a "template" as it makes it difficult to prepare the manuscript for publication
• use vertical apostrophes and quotation marks
• omit running heads
• use left justification
• begin all headings at the left margin
• double line spacing
• 5cm margin on left
• no identing or special formatting
• stapled at top left
• single sided.
