23rd ANNUAL NZCA CONFERENCE
'Convergence'

The New Zealand Communication Association (NZCA) invites proposals for papers to be presented at its annual conference to be hosted this year by Manukau Institute of Technology, Auckland. The over-arching conference theme of “Convergence” gives scope for papers on a wide range of topics:
· Convergence of ideas,
· Convergence of technology,
· Convergence of cultures and nations and
· Convergence of academic disciplines
with a particular focus on how convergence is happening in the field of communication.
Your paper could also inspire us to deal with convergence in:
As usual, apart from topics inspired by this year’s theme, the conference also offers a forum:
· Teaching: Pedagogy and Methodology
· Research
· Technology Applications
· Sustainability
· Entrepreneurship
· Any other area of Applied Communication
for the presentation and discussion of all topics relevant to communication teachers, researchers and practitioners in New Zealand.

These will be double-blind peer-reviewed, and the full paper will be published on the www.nzca.org website as part of the on-line Conference Proceedings.
Time: 20 minutes presentation, 10 minutes discussion
Dates for submission of paper or abstract (300 words):
Round 1: Friday 26 August 2011 (elapsed) Reviewers’ feedback: 10 September 2011
Round 2: Friday 28 October 2011
Final dates for submission for full paper for publication on website: February 18 2012
Reviewers’ feedback: 2 March, 2012 (paper accepted/accepted with revision / declined)
Revised papers returned to reviewer: 23 March 2012

Paper Abstract:
At the front of your paper, include an abstract (100-300 words).
Pages:
Number the pages in the centre of the footer
Type:
Use 12-point Arial double-spaced with standard margins.
Formatting:
Do not use any special formatting or template for your document, e.g. set spacing after headings or between paragraphs as this makes standardising the layout of the Proceedings extremely difficult.
Style:
The paper/abstract is to be academically sound, and written in clear language accessible to anyone interested in the field of Communication. Jargon may be used where appropriate, but clear explanations should be provided.
Referencing:
APA referencing is to be used. Please refer to the latest edition of the APA Publication Manual, and to the APA website for the most up-to-date information on referencing internet sources. Ensure that all direct quotations include page references, or paragraph references for un-paginated on-line sources.
